Daniella is Home!

Sister Daniella Rojas returned home yesterday on the 29th April 2011. She served in the Illinois Chicago Mission and 'Returns With Honour' She was interviewed for her release by President Charles and then removed her missionionary badge. It was an emotional moment for her as she placed her hand over her heart to the space her badge had occupied for the last eighteen months.

3 Island Hop for Preparation Day.

This is Hydra a two hour boat trip from Athens. We didn't have very long to look around ,but we were so happy as there seemed to be a picture postcard moment around every corner .Most of their supplies are moved around the island by donkeys.

Gathering for the Baptism of Krasimir Petkov.

A Baptism in Paphos.

Posted by PicasaKrasimir Petkov was baptised by Brother Caprini along the rugged coast of Paphos .Elder Held and Elder Kopischke had the privilege of teaching Krasimir and witnessing the baptism. It had been a windy day with powerful waves and rainy skies, but as they walked into the waves the sky directly overhead was a beautiful blue.

Happy Easter!

Please remind me to smack Stuart for making a face at the lunch table :)

Eggs at the Ready!

Red eggs abound in Greece at Easter Time. The red represents the Atonement, and the egg itself reminds us of rebirth. There is a knockout competition of tapping your egg with another egg, the one whose egg remains whole is the winner.

The Night of Ayio Fos.

This is the Saturday night before Easter Sunday which is called the night of the Holy Light. We gathered at the little church on the top of Lycabbettos just before midnight. The light is brought out of the church at midnight and everyone assembled lights their candles. It is traditional to say "Xristos Anesti" and the reply is "Alithos Anesti" meaning "Christ is Risen "and "Truly He has Risen." This picture is one of my very favourites, it is Eder Balhorn with a smile that reflects what is in our hearts. We know that our Saviour lives.

All Dressed in White.

It was a joy to be with these two brethren on the day of their baptism. We had a musical presentation from Sisters Frohlich and Braaksma and Elders Mower, Cook and Mossner. They sang "The Iron Rod" and the power of the words and music brought a sweet spirit to the meeting . Sister Lindita Sallo member of the Acropoli Branch spoke on Baptism, and Sister Ollerton spoke on the Holy Ghost. They spoke with such conviction that my heart was lifted up to rejoice in the joy of being alive and a part of this moment.
