All is Well!

Anne was very ready to receive the teachings of the gospel. She has an assignment already to work in the Young Women's Organisation and seemed very happy with that. Elder Stevens said that many members turned out to support her on this special day. God bless you Anne, I look forward to giving you a hug when we are next in Limassol

Smiles All Round!

I had the wonderful opportunity to sit in on a lesson with Anne and the Elders. I found in her a great desire to follow the Lord. She has a love and excitement about the gospel that is quite delightful.

The Baptism of Stephen.

It was so good to attend the baptism of Stephen Maqsood on Saturday the 27th August 2011. He was taught by Elders Deeley and Stelter and baptised by Elder Mower. Elder Mower has a calming influence on those he is about to baptise. He is kind and loving and administers with power and authority. Brother Maqsood bore testimony after the baptism and said " I am very glad and thankful that you are here to support me"

Angela's Visit to Athens.

Here we have Angela a member of the church who is visiting from Canada with John Sesay a member of the Acropoli Branch. Angela's first contact with John was in June 2010 when they began talking to one another online. John was not a member then and had many questions that Angela helped him with. She went further by contacting the Greece Athens Mission and gave John's name as a referral. Missionaries called on John and began teaching him at the beginning of September and by the end of September 2010 he entered the waters of baptism. John is now the Elders Quorum President of the Acropoli Branch and has been the instrument whereby many others have joined the church. It was so lovely to see Angela here in Athens and we are thankful to her for being a light to others.

Courageous Cougars!

We had the privilege of having the BYU's basketball team in Athens. Prior to their match with Hellas the Greek National Team they attended a fireside at the Acropoli chapel. Coach Rose and his wife Cheryl spoke and players Noah Hartsock and Brock Zylstra. President Charles was the concluding speaker. The chapel was filled to the brim and many were touched by the Spirit. We enjoyed supporting the BYU squad at the match and were proud to be associated with such fine young people.

Lyn's Baptism in Larnaca.

I met Lyn just before she had her baptismal interview and was so impressed with her desire for baptism. It was on a Sunday evening when we met and that morning she had walked a long way to get to church despite having injured her ankle. You can see by the smile on her face how delighted she is.

Elder Yates Forgot to Make His Face!

Everyone is trying not to laugh at Elder Yates. The scary face has become a tradition, but I promise Sister Yates that I will get some 'normal' poses from your son.

A Baptism in Thessaloniki

I have to apologise for the mix up of posting this picture so late. Yiannis was baptised in June, he was taught by Elders Muurling and Antonopoulos and also by Elder Radnoti. In the picture from left to right are Brother Sotiri 1st Counsellor in the Thessaloniki Branch, Elder Radnoti, Yiannis and Elder Antonopoulos. Yiannis loves to sing and has LDS tapes in his car to which he sings along with great energy.

An Airport Reunion.

Tom and Daniel come back to visit. They are enjoying visiting with members and renewing contacts with those that they taught. It was wonderful to feel of their spirit. God bless them for the great work they performed here. We are grateful for the firm foundations that they have laid and upon which others continue to build.

Elders in the Spotlight.

We had fun at the Centre for Young Adults in Nicosia. the Elders had written down some things that they had experienced in their lives thus far. We had two teams and when something was read out we voted on which Elder it was. Much laughter ensued and we all learnt a little bit more about these faithful servants of the Lord.
